Ole Valdemar Nielsen and Lena Hjelm outside Galleri Guggen

Galleri Guggen
The back room at Guggen is filled with boxes. We are in the process of emptying draws and shelves ... packing up and getting ready to move out. What an odd feeling - melancholy mixed with a sweet sense of the essence of Guggen right here and now. We find all sorts of things which makes us smile - like the above photograph with Ole and Lena Hjelm, taken in the spring of 2007. All these amazing artists and their art, all our wonderful visitors coming with their love of art ... truly uplifting.

REGITZE STEINBRUCH

Regitze is on her way home in the "Gugge- mobile" with some of her pictures; other pictures are on their way to other homes and one is going off to France! The walls at Gallery Guggen are bare and downstairs there are just two empty chairs. To have spent this time together with Regitze's work has felt like living in the pages of a literary work - a huge fantastic tale.

Regitze writes:
"I see my artistic endeavors as an effort to bring to light something that should not stay in darkness."
I feel that Regitze does this with an amazing wit and humor, thus creating the space in which such a process can unfold. Thank You Regitze!

LEONARD WEISGARD

It's the second of October and Gallery Guggen is quiet, and the rooms are empty after being filled with Leonard Weisgard's illustrations, lots of friends and family, visitors from near and far; Guests from the IBBY Book Congress - (The International Board on Books for Young People) and a whole school class of first graders, who listened to the story "The Little Eskimo" while looking at the originals.

You can still see illustrations - on the net: leonardweisgard.com

The 24th of September 2008 Helene & Livia wrote in the guestbook:
"The pictures are beautiful, but the little mouse is the best!"

RASMUS LORENS HAGEDORN-OLSEN

It's the first of June and The Guggers have Gugge vacation now. But Rasmus will be here for the month of June and work on a new series of paintings. It feels good to know that the inspirational energy will continue - in waves....

Yes it is summer vacation time!

BERTINE KNUDSEN

Again the walls at Gallery Guggen are bare. As these photographs show, Bertine was busy yesterday taking the show down and getting ready for two new shows.
There is a sudden silence in the Gallery. In my experience paintings talk or communicate: they sing and whisper, tell stories or secrets. They vibrate with frequencies way beyond measurable ranges - sometimes I think they call a name.

And now Galley Guggen is very empty and very quiet.

Thank you Bertine and Ole for filling Guggen with wonderful works of art!

ELLEN CHRISTENSEN

February 2008

What an amazing time it has been; having Ellen Christensen's work in Galleri Guggen under the title "Quite Her Own" ; a true maverick in the most positive sense of the word. Her extraordinary sculptures of birds, her fantastic masks (which kept reminding me of Oskar Schlemmer) and wonderful and warm  paintings - celebration of life.  HURRA ELLEN!!! who just celebrated her 101st birthday in March.

YUKO TAKADA KELLER

Yuko Takada Keller, der pakker sin installation sammen. "The Box I Want to Be In" hed værket og havde urpræmiere i Galleri Guggen i december-januar

Right at this moment Yuko is taking down her exhibition. The photograph shows her with the installation "The Box I Want To Be In" which was a new piece - shown for the first time here at Guggen!

De Chirico once did a painting which he called "The Melancholy of Departure" - a great painting and a wonderful title. There is in me a feeling of melancholy when the artists take their show down. For weeks we at Guggen have been surrounded by Yuko's wonderful works and their influence and energy.

But we are happy knowing that Yuko will be putting up a new show:

May 24th - July 13th 2008
Gudhjem Museum. Bornholm

- giving us a chance for another Gugge-expedition!

Thank you Yuko for an amazing, ingenious exhibition!
